JACK ALBRITTAIN
ABOUT
ALBRITTAIN
Albrittain’s paintings balance delicacy and density, often combining spare compositions with richly worked surfaces and subtle tonal shifts. His use of mineral pigments and classical materials contributes to a sense of temporal ambiguity. The works can feel at once contemporary and ancient, diaristic and allegorical. Rather than resolving into fixed narratives, the paintings invite sustained looking and imagination.
Working primarily in distemper, graphite, and oil on linen and panel, his paintings occupy a space between observation, memory, and symbolic narrative. Birds, books, vessels, domestic interiors, and fragments of landscape recur throughout the work as quiet archetypes; intimate forms charged with emotional and psychological resonance.
Jack Albrittain was born in Vienna, Virginia. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

PAUL WIRHUN
ABOUT
WIRHUN
Paul Wirhun’s work is rooted in the traditional Ukrainian art of pysanky, which he began learning from his mother at the age of eight. Working with eggshells as both material and metaphor, his practice explores memory, ritual, transformation and renewal. Rather than treating the egg as a static object, Wirhun approaches it as an event; a vessel shaped by processes of creation, protection, and emergence.
Through dyeing, brushwork, etching, gilding and reconstruction, Wirhun expands traditional folk processes into a contemporary visual language. The shell itself becomes a site of layered inscription, fragmentation, and reassembly. Ancient symbols and ornamental structures are transformed into new mosaic-like compositions, charged with psychological and spiritual resonance.
Paul Wirhun was born in New Haven, CT. He lives and works between Provincetown, Massachusetts and New York.
